Biowaste industry trade association AfOR is teaming up with edie to promote the 2010 Awards for Environmental Excellence.

The Association for Organics Recycling is the leading trade organisation for the biodegradable waste management industry in the UK.
It works on behalf of its members to raise awareness of the benefits of the recycling of biodegradable resources and aims to act as an advocate for the wider composting and biological treatment industries and to represent their views in a constructive dialogue with policy makers.

This year it will be working with edie to promote our Waste & Recycling Award which seeks to highlight projects that take a more sustainable approach to waste and resource management.

AfOR’s managing director, Jeremy Jacobs commented that “AfOR are delighted to be involved in promoting this event and providing the opportunity for our members to highlight the excellent work that they undertake in the field of organics resource recovery and reuse, there continues to be significant growth in our sector which brings with it innovation and originality, these facets of the sector need recognition through awards such as this”
Sam Bond, edie's editor said: "We pleased to have AfOR on board. Biodegradable material is a waste stream with a growing profile and we hope that this partnership will lead to a number of quality entries representing this particular sector.
“We're joining forces with membership organisations like AfOR as their people are likely to be those setting the agenda in their field - and those are exactly the kind of people we want to hear from.

"It's a match that works for everyone - members of the association get a heads up about an potential award that might otherwise have passed them by, while we reach the widest possible audience, allowing us to attract the highest calibre of entries."

Now in their fourth year, the Awards for Environmental Excellence are RSA accredited, making them one of just a handful of feeder schemes for the European Business Awards for the Environment".

Winners are entitled to be considered to represent the UK in the pan-European awards.

Entering the awards could not be easier - those who believe they have a project that shows innovation, goes beyond simple good practice and meets criteria need only write a brief case study and provide us with their contact details.

The Awards for Environmental Excellence are now in their fourth year and entries must be received by the closing date of May 26.

The best of these will be shortlisted for consideration by our expert panel of judges.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at London's prestigious Hurlingham Club, London in November.

The awards are sponsored by powerPerfector.
