Welcome to the Association for Organics Recycling's home page
The Association for Organics Recycling (AfOR) is the United Kingdom's membership organisation committed to the sustainable management of biodegradable resources. It promotes the benefits of composting, digestion, and other biological treatment techniques and the use of biologically treated materials for the enhancement of the environment, business and society.
AfOR was formerly known as the Composting Association, which was established in the early 1990s. This website provides news and information relevant to the biodegradable resource sector, including health and safety and certification of composts and compostable packaging, as well as an on-line directory of members and a downloadable list of certified composts. Relevant events are promoted here, as too are the products and services of advertisers and sponsors.
AfOR provides a technical enquiry service for its members and offers a range of membership categories suited to the biodegradable resource management industry. The website category 'Membership' sets out the benefits associated with becoming a member and AfOR welcomes such enquiries.

This Guidance should provide clarity on the definitions of recycling, preparation for re-use and composting contained in the Order; and the monitoring and reporting requirements contained in the Regulations.
