HSE PROPOSALS TO REVIEW APPROVED CODES OF PRACTICE (ACOPs)

We would welcome your views on proposals to review our portfolio of ACOPs to update and improve them as recommended by Professor Ragnar Löfstedt in his 2011 independent review of health and safety legislation ‘Reclaiming health and safety for all’.

We are seeking views on proposals to revise, consolidate or withdraw 15 ACoPs by the end of 2013. These include a proposal to withdraw the ACOP for the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and replace it with a suite of more specific, updated guidance. The consultation also invites views on proposals for revisions, or for no changes, to a further 15 ACOPs which are to be delivered by 2014.

We are also interested in your views on a general proposal to limit all ACOP documents to a maximum length of 32 pages, other than in exceptional circumstances.

The consultation is open until 14 September 2012.
