The Organics Recycling Group of the REA invite you courtesy of Jack Moody Recycling Ltd to a site visit and Members’ forum on Thursday the 25th June at their in-vessel composting facility near Wolverhampton.

ORG has for a number of years held networking events for members at a range of waste management facilities throughout the UK. These events provide an ideal opportunity for members to discuss current issues, learn about any current concerns and also visit a facility of interest.

The morning session will start with coffee, followed by a number of short presentations covering:
  • General Update on ORG activities
  • Business rates and their impact on compost sites
  • European Update (Fertilisers Regulation and Waste Treatment BREF)
  • Getting value from your insurance company
  • Overview of Jack Moody Ltd Composting site

There will also be a discussion session around whether PAS100 needs to be reviewed. We really want to know your thoughts, and welcome all contributions.

After lunch and networking, the afternoon will be hosted by Jack Moody Recycling Ltd, who will provide a guided tour of their composting facility.

Jack Moody Recycling Ltd

This diverse site comprises open windrow composting, In-vessel composting and biofuel manufacture. Green waste is recycled to produce a range of 100% recycled peat free compost materials under the CARE Compost brand, which is endorsed by BALI and has Organic Standard certification from the Soil Association. The range of top dressing, soil conditioner, mulches, tree and shrub planting and growing media composts offers enhanced fertility and improved soil quality and is used nationwide by local authorities and both commercial and private landscapers and gardeners.

The site has a state of the art, enclosed composting system for the recycling and treatment of green and other biodegradable wastes. Based on several years’ development, the unique design uses forced draft aeration to convert biodegradable waste into a nutrition rich soil conditioner. Being completely enclosed, the system eliminates odours and other gaseous emissions, as well as access for birds and vermin, whilst speeding up sanitisation and stabilisation of organic matter.
