The EA has provided a summary of the responses that they received from industry concerning a review of permit conditions to improve environmental outcomes.

The EA is going to review all thirteen Quality Protocols and decide whether they are still fit for purpose. This work will be carried out over the next 12 - 18 months with compost, digestate and poultry litter ash QPs being the first 3 to be reviewed.

ORG Sector Group Meeting and Visit to Melcourt

The Organics Recycling Group of the REA invite you courtesy of Melcourt Industries to a Sector Group meeting and site visit on Thursday 26th May 2016 at Melcourt's facility near Tetbury, Gloucestershire. This event provides an ideal opportunity for members to discuss current issues concerning composting, Information on Biofilters, design and media and also visit a facility of interest.

The morning session will be held in a nearby hotel with the site tour in the afternoon.

Programme

The morning session will start with coffee, followed by a number of short presentations covering:

Ã¢ÂÂ¢ General Update on ORG activities and relevant regulatory developments

Ã¢ÂÂ¢ The UK growing media market and use of green compost and oversize

Ã¢ÂÂ¢ Biofilters Ã¢ÂÂ Design and Build

Ã¢ÂÂ¢ Melcourt Biofiltration Media

Ã¢ÂÂ¢ Biofiltration in use Ã¢ÂÂ the issues

After lunch and networking, the afternoon will be hosted by Melcourt Industries Ltd, who will provide a guided tour of their facility.

PPE:

PPE is required for the site visit: high visibility jacket/vest and strong shoes. In addition, it is an operating site so depending on weather conditions it can be dusty. Please note that the site tour will entail walking through production areas where there are heavy machinery and lorries constantly operating so it is vital to stay in allotted groups, close to the group leader.
