Biowaste H&S statistics

The ORG has collated results from members regarding their H&S incidents to see what trends are developing within the sector.

Although this only represents a small section of the waste industry, it shows that compared to an 'all industry' average and the agricultural and forestry sector, Organics Recycling appears to be a relatively 'safe' environment in which to work when looking at the RIDDOR incidence rate.

The sector is however far from complacent in its approach to hazards posed within the sector and it was for this reason some five years ago that the ORG set up a H&S working group to promote safe working practice within the sector and the subsequent publication of the guide Health and Safety at Composting Sites
