This year, Carfest was a bigger success and noticeably better event than the previous five years. In the last five years there has been a maximum of 19,000 people/day attending. This year it rose to 28,000 a day for three days with a total of over 84,000 over the full duration of the event. Fund raising for BBC's Children in Need raised around £1.3 million, a fantastic effort by all.
Jody Scheckter commented 'Having the track/hill climb extend through the compost site, not only enhanced the driver's experience but also exposed compost in a positive way to over 84,000 people. From the feedback we've had, I believe there is a great opportunity to promote recycling of green waste, plastic and possibly other materials, suggestions of an environmental village to educate the public on recycling next year may be an option'
