RHI for Biogas Operators

RHI tariffs are finally due to be introduced at scales that are relevant across the whole industry.

However, drastic reductions in support for electricity via the Feed-in Tariff commenced on 1st April, particularly affecting small scale biogas plants in sub 500kWe bands which suffered a 20% degression.

This FiTs degression means that RHI support for biogas combustion moves from a ‘nice-to-have’ to an integral part of your business case. Operators, producers and developers are making decisions now as to whether to proceed with projects or abandon them.

This seminar from the REA will help with that decision making process as Ofgem cover their approach to applying the regulations, the RHI in general and biogas specific issues. Areas covered will include;

  • What is installed capacity?
  • Interpretation of eligibility rules for CHP plant that was electrically commissioned pre 4th December 2013
  • Operation of the ‘parasitic deduction’ rule
  • For purposes of banding, an explanation of complex heat systems. i.e. a single site feeding several RHI installations in a series of buildings
  • Application of the principle regarding ‘not claiming RHI for predominant purpose of increasing tariff payments’
  • What is the test for deciding which heat loads are part of the same system & clarifying how this differs from Feed-in Tariffs
  • Sustainability criteria

Programme is currently being finalised & will be available soon.
