Richard Parsons, Nina Sweet and Sean Ryan at Defra recently met Bartosz Zambrzycki, the desk officer in the European Commission dealing with the Commission’s work on end of waste for biowaste on 29th September.

EU EoW: feedback invited on draft final technical report & REA's response

On 31st July JRC-ITPS provided the fourth and final draft of its technical report on 'End-of-waste criteria for biodegradable waste subjected to biological treatment'. ORG will respond by their deadline for feedback, which is 23rd September 2013.

Environment Agency’s EQual Programme Update

REA are working in partnership with the Environment Agency’s EQual programme during the next three years. EQual is a major LIFE+ programme that will support and encourage the use of products made from waste. The output from the programme will help companies seeking to achieve end of waste status for their waste-derived products, inform a more consistent and streamlined regulatory approach, and improve end market confidence.

Developing EU End of Waste Criteria

Defra's Information Note sets out the current position on the development of European Union End of Waste criteria for the biological treatment of biodegradable wastes, i.e. composting to produce composts and anerobic digestion to produce digestates, that can be placed on the market and used without waste regulatory controls.
