REA launches report on the Real Economic Benefit of Separate Biowaste Collections

Over 60 delegates attended the REA launch of this long awaited report which was kindly sponsored by Olleco a national food waste collector and written by Peter Jones from Eunomia Consulting.

A number of MPs supported the event including Peter Aldous MP (Con) and Dr Alan Whitehead MP (Lab), both promoted the bio-resources economy and are keen to see a greater roll-out of food waste collections in England.

The report seeks to vanquish some of the myths surrounding the cost burdens associated with food waste collections. The aim of a mandatory food waste collection which the report promotes and seeks to underpin would be to greatly increase the extent of separate food waste collections in England, bringing both environmental and economic opportunities and contributing significantly to increasing the falling recycling rate in England.
